As far back as mankind can trace its roots, symbols have played an important part in our thinking, communicating thoughts, belief systems and ideas. Symbols — from emblems, ensigns, heraldry, coats of arms, national seals, flags, corporate logos, to the simple everyday traffic signals — symbols communicate valuable information and identification in every land and culture in the world. This was equally true for the ancients as for the world of today. As symbols change and evolve through the ages, more often than not, the concepts they represent do not! Thus, the more we change, the more we stay the same! Without question the one most important symbol used by absolutely all of mankind as far back as we can go was and still is the great awe-inspiring, life-giving, light bringing, heavenly orb of morning we call — the SUN. One can readily understand mankind's long and deep worship and admiration for the SUN, especially if we keep in mind that if it were not for the SUN there would not and could not be life on earth as we know it. No matter how happy and beautiful our world may be each day, when the evening SUN goes down and the cold fearful darkness of night approaches, we are reminded that were it not for modern lighting and heated homes, we would find ourselves in a very hostile environment. Truly, darkness was man's first perceived enemy! Now to understand how pervasive and widespread ancient SUN worship was, it is important to know that so many of the ancient symbols for it are still very much in use today — worldwide! A few examples of SUN symbols we can cite are the eye atop the pyramid on the back of the one-dollar bill, the swastika of Nazi Germany, the American bald eagle, the round wafer in the Catholic Church Mass, the torch carried in the Olympics and in the Statue of Liberty's hand, and the Christian cross. Many ancient Bible names like Baal, Samson and Solomon (Sol-Om-On = three names for the SUN), the Egyptian scarab beetle, as well as the very idea of the Judaic and Christian Messiah, are just some of the many symbols for the SUN. But there is vet another interesting connection that can be made between the SUN as a symbol of the life and the light of the world, and that is the SUN as a metaphor for the all-knowing God of "Spiritual Illumination." It is in this way that most spiritual disciplines and theologies have used the SUN. As a matter of fact, one of the various eclectic forms of the Hebrew Old Testament God, YAHWEH, presents him often as the Divine Sun Deity. His very name is pictured within the SUN! And in the New Testament, the Messiah is presented to us as "the Risen Light of the World." Interestingly, the same description was applied to many far more ancient dying SUN-GODS such as ODIN of the Scandinavians, SURYA of India, APOLLO and HERCULES of Greece, BACCHUS-DIONYSOS and MITHRAS of ancient Rome, and not to forget the great brooding God of Wisdom at the Alexandrine library in Egypt, to name a few. Even in the world of 1996, we find that every king, prince, lord,governor, dictator, despotic ruler, civil and social institution, national flag, coat of arms, educational institution, military medal, award, organizational insignia, medallion, badge, citation, trophy, banner, pendant, political standard or ensign, agency of government or religion the world over, uses the SUN as the primary symbol! And finally we come to the most interesting part of the story, that being the occult (or hidden) connections between religions and governments, between the church and state, the two most powerful influences on our minds and lives today. That there is a long-standing, well-established partnership between government and religion is a fact of life; that is beyond dispute! My intent is to introduce a missing dimension in world affairs that is the connecting link between these institutions — namely, "Secret Societies and Religious Priestcraft." In coming issues of Truth Seeker we will take a look at the influence secret societies and fraternal orders have had on government, banking and religion. It is imperative that we look into such things with our unique perspective of freethinking, seeking the truth with reason without any barriers to our ability to investigate. Now, as we hear more talk of a "New World Order," our investigation is a timely idea. It has been said there are only two possible theories of history — the accidental theory and the organized theory. Either things just happen, and no one knows how and why, or else someone makes things happen and they know why. This is not to say that there are no accidents. Each day unexpected events can and do happen. From ocean liners sinking, oil refinery fires, to auto and firearm mishaps, these are all an unhappy part of life in our imperfect world. But when major government policies are concerned, is it rational to believe that they were arrived at by mere serendipity? The point l wish to make was best stated many years ago: "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Yet America was founded on the principle of a real division between these two powerful forces, the church and the state. The slow and deliberate destruction of the concepts of human liberty and freedom of thought, which have been rooted out of our general society, is the work of highly organized groups with an agenda to control the common person. These groups have always used the SUN as their basic symbol, implying that they are the holders of the light — the lightbearers for the world — the illuminated ones. Every law enforcement agency in America from local police to the U.S. Department of Justice has a Criminal Conspiracy Division. The reason for this is rather simple, there are such things as criminal conspiracies. The very word conspiracy comes from con-spire or breathe together. If history has taught us nothing, it teaches that the two institutions, which like human lungs breathe together are religion and government. America was founded on the principle of a real division between these two giants in the land.
